An unlikely hero
« on: August 05, 2009, 03:17:33 PM »
I have been fishing the last 3 nights and the swim jig bite is on.  I have caught fish on jig colors that previously hadn't given me a bite.  Last night was the best with 44 bass being caught.

I got to looking at the least likely to produce jig and trailer.  I picked out a red living rubber jig with a red head and put on a white 5" Kalin grub.  On the first cast a bass jumped all over it.  I caught probably 6-8 on it before the rock pile claimed it for one of its own.

I may try that combo again some time though it will be after dark so no one can see what a dorky looking bait it actually is.  :P

Great job there JM,...
White bodies with a red-head is a common color combination for salt-water plugs BTW! 8)

Yep my fav Zara Spook is a white with red head, but I have never used a red jig with a white trailer till that night.  I'll be trying it again for sure.
