Bait casters
« on: September 22, 2010, 09:05:46 AM »
What would happen if i took a bait casting reel and but it on a spinning rod. The reason i ask is is the only casting rod i have is extra heavy action and i don't particularly like using a small sappling as a rod.
                                                           Thank you
The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

The trigger would be on the wrong side of the rod would be my first thought.

Other than that I think it would be uncomfortable and the bigger line eyes would make it want to roll in your hand.

BOATLESS!

Guess I will just have to stick with the spinning setup

LOL, Jack.  Your backwards. ;D

Hoodge36  you could do it but it might be hard to hold onto without the trigger.

Shoot I tryed it out and just in the backyard and the way the rod will bend(backwards) will break it.

just go spend twenty bucks on a cheap casting rod like a berkley cherry wood or a lightning rod

I used a heavy action spinning rod with a baitcaster for a while. I used it both ways; holding the rod like it was meant to be held which meant using my reel upside down. Takes a little getting used to. And using it like a baitcasting rod. I only fished a jig with it. Never lost a fish with it but it is cumbersome and I finally got another rod when I had the money to do so.
