BCR874
« on: July 18, 2008, 01:58:51 PM »
Does anyone have this rod in a GLX.  Do you like it?  How's it fish a frog(spro bronze)?   If you have a BCR854 how do they compair?

Thinkin of adding this one to my collection and looking for opinions on the 7'3" over the 7'1".

I've fished the 854 for a couple years know and love it. But I'm thinking the 7'3" might be just a bit nicer on setting the hook in 15+fow

I dont like 7'6+ rods because of thier balance and weight.  So this 7'3" is as long as I'm willin to go.  I've handled the rod and it feels comfortable but lookin for anyone that has used it.

I cant beleive your fishing a frog in 15+fow  :o  ;)

whoops,  Its for froggin and jiggin.  The froggin will be shallower and mossy.  Thats what that rod will mostly be used for.  Mostly jiggin though.

I know I was kidding.

I can not get used to those long rods.  I feel like I loose a little sensitivity because the vibrations have to travel so much further.

I've fished some spooks and stuff like that in 20+ fow but it was gen clear water.

Jack,  my opinion is just opposite of yours.  I can feel more with a longer rod around 7'.

I think that length sensitivity issue would peretain more to a lower quality rod, but for a GLX I don't see any issues with the longer rod.
I have the 855 and it's a beast, you got one of those right?

It just plain ol psychics.

The further vibration has to travel the less your going to feel.   But when it comes to a fishing rod, especially a high quality one, then it probably doesn't matter enough that you could tell with the naked hand.

But it did seem to matter on the last 7' rod I bought which was a Shimano Crucial, so I took it back.
