I am getting back into bass fishing after 25 years needing advice on the newer lines, reels, & rods. Thanks for any advice you may have.

I'm kinda partail of all the Pflueger reels and Falcon rods. As far as lines goes you really can't beat the Berkley products.

I like Abu-Garcia reels. They always work good for me. :)

You will get a ton of different answers on those questions.

In my opinion best reels under $100 would be Diawa products.  (over $100 Shimano and Diawa)

Im really liking the Triple Fish Fluro lines, and I am quite partial to Shimano Rods (Compre, Crucials, and Cumaras)

under a hundred i like daiwa'a and abu's. go just a little bit over a hundred, and there are a ton of great reels. too me, ~$130 for a daiwa tda, shimano citica, or the new pflueger president can't be beat. plus, if you look around, there are some GREAT deals to be had on ebay for ~$100!

To be honest I partial to the “old” Curados. (200B) I have 5 of them.
If the Citica is built anything like these I would try one. Let us know what you find.

You can get a Shimano Cruxis or a Daiwa Black Widow II from Tacklewarehouse for around $75 plus free shipping.

The Cruxis used to be in the $100 mark, the Black Widow in the $120, it can´t get better than that, either is a very good reel.

I too have and love the old greenies, but as much as I love them, they cannot hold a candle to the Citica E.

The Citica E is superior in so many ways. Just to name a few things, the HEgearing, Dartanium Drag, a sideplate that doesn't come off, and considerably lighter by nearly an ounce, and all for $119 (you can find it cheaper if you look). Back in the day, the Curado BSF was $149.00

To the subject, awesome advice already given. Buy the best you can afford.

For under $100.00 You can't beat and Ambassador 5500C3.  My son has 5 he fishes tournaments most every weekend.  My reels are all more expensive reels but he seems to always catch more fish that I do.  Now I know thats not the reel but those Ambassadors stand up to a lot of pressure.  The second best reel is anything Ian works on ;D

I too am partial to the old Curado B series, you can find them on ebay once and a while and even used are great.  I just picked up a Shimano citica 100D (basically a Curado 100b) for $100, so far im in love.  The Garcia Revo S was a great deal at $100, until everyone figured out how good they really were, and Garcia jacked the price up.  The Pfluger Purist for $80 isnt a bad reel either, I use mine for cranks and jerkbaits.  I also just picked up a St. Croix Mojo 6'6" MH casting rod for $75, most places sell them for $90.  I will tell you what, with my citica 100 on there, it is one heck of a nice set up.  The rod kind of feels like a cross between my St. Croix Premiers and Avids, I really like it alot.  My line of choice is #30 Power Pro braid or #30 Stren Super Braid, although on some rods I use heavier braid.  When I fish mono I use 12-15lb Trilene Big Game, 12-14lb Trilene XL, Cajun red in 10-14lb. For flourocarbon I usually use 8-12lb Trilene 100% flourocarbon.
