classic beauty.....stunning reel!
« on: October 13, 2010, 12:54:58 PM »
here's a treasure of mine that belonged to my grandfather(who is still alive BTW). the best info i could find on this beautiful machine indicated that it was made in 1935. if anyone has any interesting info on this beauty, please post it up. it is in near mint condition, and feels smooth as silk. it is brilliantly engineered, and still casts wonderfully! 75 yrs old and still kickin'! also, being that it belonged to my grandfather, it has darn sure caught well more than it's fair share off bass  :) he is the greatest fisherman i have ever known......

Ian that is way too cool. Hold on to it and pass it on down. I just lost my grandfather in June and have a few things from him that I treasure. Nothing can replace those kind of things.

i agree completely; way too many great fishing stories from my grandpa about this reel to ever let it go!

There is a section in Bassmaster magazine that deals with old fishing stuff. He could give you a value and maybe more information.

That is nice bro.!

company history lesson and model introduction :

http://www.collectorsweekly.com/fishing/pflueger     ...(cut and paste) ;D

I also looked at the Shakespeare link over on the left bar since it mentioned that reels were being made by them for Pflueger.

There is one supreme on the top right that's going for nearly 200 ;D

That's awsome!! All of my grandads old fishing stuff burned up when his house burned to the ground about 17 or 18 years ago. He told me he had an old Pflueger that was his dad's along with an old metal tackle box full of old lures.

ah man, that's awful.....all that stuff is so neat to see now a days. it is amazing to me how tough all that stuff is; i can't help but wonder if my favorite reels would last 75 years and still fish as well as the day they were bought like this old supreme does.....
