Do you feel the GLoomis rods are really that good?
« on: December 10, 2005, 06:11:22 PM »
I'm posting because I bought two of them and you all have read the post I'm sure, but I'm wondering...if its really that good of a rod?  Just going over this in my mind because I'm excited that I bought it and want to make sure I didn't overspend for underproduct.

I love my Loomis rods.  100% satisfied.  For me the initial invest ment is tough. But after useing them and dealing with there customer service.  I have yet to be let down :banger  I dont know where you bought them from but right now I am investigating on pricing of BCR's to see who is the cheapest.  Everyone is telling me tackle haven on ebay.

Gloomisman I've checked BPS and Tacklehaven both and ordered mine through tacklehaven I got the crankbait CBR843c for $143.99 and BPS wants 194 for it. I also ordered the MBR843c GLX for $245.99 and new not used They are suposed to be shipped tomorrow (Mon) should have by fri I hope :pray. I can't wait to get them. I felt the crankbait at BPS today and sweeet it is :drool light and sensative It would be worth while to check into tackle haven Joe would probably agree.

Yes Tackle haven is worth a look see, brand new and usually 100 bucks off retail, came in a nice sturdy pvc tube as well, no cardboard.
Got it pretty quick too.

I just bought a GLX Loomis, and yes, I'm very happy with it.  There is one thing that really bothers me.  Shortly after byuing this rod I read on a forum that most production run rods do not have the guides aligned to the spine of the rod.  I'm thinking that I should bought a custom rod for what I spent on the GLX, and been assured that the rod was properly assembled.

Believe me I am sure your GLX is assembled properly, I have 3 and they are excellrnt pieces of equipment that make fishing a pleasure even more than it already is.

Thanks Joe for your comment.  I live in the Chicago area and all our water around here is hard.  It's so hard to have this brand new GLX and know you've got 4 months time till you can give it a try.  I love the way it feels and looks and can't wait to give it a try.  MY brother lives in San Diego, maybe I should take a trip out to see him?

What kind did you get? and I know how you feel about wanting to use it, when I got my first IMX I searched for open water and found a little spot that was uncovered, I knew I wasn't going to catch anything but probably made a 100 casts to that little hole in the ice and enjoyed just using it :shrug

Joe,
I bought a rod that was just introduced by Loomis this year in either August or September.  I found out about it talking to Andrew at Loomis Technical Support.  My dealer (Ed Shirley Sports in Palatine IL) just got it in on December 9.  This is a Bronzeback GLX- Number SMR822S-SP.  I love the feel (softer tip than the jig & worm series, very nice design handle and reel seat) and look (matte spanish moss, recoil guides) of this rod.  Thank God for Christmas Bonuses.  If the missus found out what it cost, her first statement would be " you already have a couple of fishing poles, you could have used that money for a nicer Christmas gift for me."  Instead I bought myself a Christmas gift, and I don't even feel guilty.  Now if I could just find some soft water!

This was the first year I bought myself a Christmas present, and it felt good.  All kidding aside, the tackle shop here in the Chicago area was offering 20% off on all rods in the store till the 15th of December.  Fortunatley for me the store manager had ordered 2 of them, and they arrived around the 10th of December, so I had to take advantage of the oppertunity.
