Gammy Skip Gap hooks
« on: October 08, 2008, 04:57:34 PM »
Since I t-rig all my plastics, I decided to try some of the Gamakatsu Skip Gap hooks.  Supposedly, the design will keep the plastics from sliding down the hook.  Anyone used them yet!

Oh, I picked them up at Walmart last night, and the only size they had was 3/0, which is fine, but I'm hoping they'll stock larger size (4/0, 5/0).  Dang things were $3+ change for 5 in a pack   :o

Yup....i brought my local walmart out completely when they had them on sale.

They work great for tubes.

I bought one pack some time last year and they hold a tube bait quite well. The only downside I that I realized or at least couldn't resolve was that I couldn't get the hook to work with an oval shaped internal weight, the kind with a hole.

Almost forgot to post this: yesterday while on the water I tied-on a 3/0 Skip Gap hook. Worked well ! I was using a Rage Craw around some almost dead lily pads and got snagged a couple of times, and the craw stayed right in place. Also had a Shakit worm rigged on it earlier and was dragging it through some vegetation, and the worm stayed in place.

DANG at that price I’ll just have to “borrow” some of yours!  ;D

You're more than welcome, lol.   With my catch ratio, I should only need about 2 hooks for the next couple of seasons, lol   ;D
