Growing Disappointment
« on: May 30, 2011, 03:14:49 PM »
I bought the Coangler series bag at Bass Pro back in late March. Well, one evening while sitting on the floor and organizing for tournament the next day, I pulled on one of the loops to turn it towards me and a seam ripped wide open. I took it back the other day, an hour drive each way, and exchanged it for the Bass Pro Extreme Pro Qualifier. I loaded it up and that was when I noticed this bag had a seam that had come apart. It was not from being overloaded which could easily happen. So now I have to take this bag back and get something else. I might just exchange it for baits or something. But it is very disappointing that the quality of these bags are very poor. I also noticed that the zippers on the second bag seemed of low quality.

Carter, hate to hear that about them. I'm sure that is very frustrating!

That sure is irritating. I also live about an hour away from my nearest BPS. In my truck that's about $40 gas. I'm over that way  usually once or twice a month on other business and that's when I stop in.
Maybe you could go on BPS website and submit a review of your experience. They have a place for that if you pull up the item in question I think. That would be a good way to pass on to others and it also lets BPS be aware of it if they read it.

Bass don't eat what they don't see.

Dang, that sux, Carter.   I'm leery of just about any product these days, as there's not much pride in workmanship in the things on the market these days.  Hopefully you'll be able to exchange it for something worthwhile that will last.

I feel for you and don't like going through a string of luck like that either.  I agree with waterwings 100% and also hope it works out in your favor to exchange it or find something better.

YIKES! My old tackle bag (bought at Wally World) is having some issues and I was thinking of ordering one. With that kind of quality I might just keep what I have.

Carter, If it were me (the king or returns), I'd go to customer services and ask to speak to a member of the management team.  I'd explain the two trips and the fuel and time to buy then return substandard products.  Then I'd ask for a time and trouble adjustment.  I did that once at Lowe's and got a free upgrade and a gift card.

Good luck man.

Don't get me wrong, I know there are many tackle bags out there that are just fine and cover what most anglers needs are. But, what i use is nothing more than a gear bag, the rectangular shaped bag with the top zipper and carry handles. Someone gave me an old large sized Marlboro gear bag once and i used it for years(I painted over the logo). Another i have used was a car dealers (give-away?, accessory?) gear bag (from a local toyota dealer, don't remember exactly how we came about it). It had outter zipper pockets on it like todays tackle bags. Another bag i've recently stumbled across was a large Ryobi cordless tool bag. It doesn't have any outter pockets, etc., but there is enough room on the inside to hold 6-7 3700's, 1 plano spinnerbait box(the small clear size) and several small utility boxes and rain gear. The thing i like about it is that it is retangular as well, and everything is on the inside and nothing on the outside to get in the way.

Yeah, i know...too large and 70+ lbs.  ;D

Good idea Jig Man  ;)

Buzz, I went that route once with a LARGE bag. It was prety heavy. It held 12 of the big boxes.  :o

Carter I have been searching my feeble brain trying to come up with the proper term for this operation.  I finally remembered it.  The guys in the trades call it the "nuisance factor".  Maybe the mgt. at BPS will recognize that terminology.

Good Luck.
