either way, in hot, clear water, the lighter line will usually get you bit more; sometimes, a lot more.

x2. I have definitely noticed this on my clear/slight green waters. I started out for 10-12# test and yeah, I had a hook up or two, but when I started finesse fishing, I noticed even differences among 10#, 8# and 6#.  Catch rates increased as I went down and this was mono. It got better with a switch to fc.

My philosophy is this, the lightest line you can get away with is the line I will try to use.  8# mono for crankbait fishing because I can get away with it and it pays well. Naturally, I am not going to throw cranks among timber with 8# because I probably couldn't get away with it.

Grim,

I found some 6# CXX, but it was moss green.  :'( I hope that there is a clear or smoke version. Maybe I'll go back and get it. I just didn't want green line.

Islandbass,I'm using moss green as well. We have that light film og green ALGAE building up.It blends in so well.Being so thin,I don't think it's going to matter much.

There is a clear line of CXX called crystal clear(red box).....last time i saw this was at Gander mountains.Dick's seem to only have green moss color for some reason.
Magic lures don't exist.
