either way, in hot, clear water, the lighter line will usually get you bit more; sometimes, a lot more.
x2. I have definitely noticed this on my clear/slight green waters. I started out for 10-12# test and yeah, I had a hook up or two, but when I started finesse fishing, I noticed even differences among 10#, 8# and 6#. Catch rates increased as I went down and this was mono. It got better with a switch to fc.
My philosophy is this, the lightest line you can get away with is the line I will try to use. 8# mono for crankbait fishing because I can get away with it and it pays well. Naturally, I am not going to throw cranks among timber with 8# because I probably couldn't get away with it.
Grim,
I found some 6# CXX, but it was moss green.

I hope that there is a clear or smoke version. Maybe I'll go back and get it. I just didn't want green line.
