I've about had it...
« on: June 07, 2009, 11:00:55 PM »
I'm about to sell both my baitcasters soon if i can't control this backlashing problem.

I'm thinking it's the line now...last year i used this line and i had no problems with it.This year it's a whole another story.Kinda beginning to see why CUDA Line went out of business now. It coils up worst than trilene big game does.Tried KVD and reel magic sprays...isn't helping either.

This friday i'm stripping one of them and putting back trilene XT(i love this line) in 14# test.If this doesn't solve my problems i'm going to be looking for trades for some good spinning reels.
 >:(

I think my other one will be getting  BPS XPS fluorocarbon put on.

Grim, I change my line at the first of every year, and when I’m fishing a lot I will change it in mid-season.
All except for my braid.
My rods are kept in the garage so they see 100+* in the summer to -0* in the winter. I’m not sure any line can handle that!

This stuff is brand new line....kept in the house.I just spooled it up before our season started.I had this stuff on a shimano curado D100 last year that i got from a guy already spooled up.No problems whatsoever.

I don't know....i know since that line went out of business the 3 spools i have are giving me trouble.Wish i never brought them...and dang glad i didn't buy more than what i have now.

My baitcasters are set right, matter of fact they are set a little tighter than i would like only because i'm trying to figure out why i'm backlashing.I figured it was me at first and the wind, but yesterday i had absolutely no wind blowing and i was still backlashing with everything set a little tighter to control it.

It's on both my daiwa fuego and shimano curado 200E7.

I shouldn't be having problems tossing with them.I'm using 3/8-3/4 oz weight + plastics.

I'm just clueless.

Is that a copoly line?  Backlashing during the cast or at the end of the cast?

Dumb question.  Did you spool it on right?  If you spool it upside down where the line wants to curl off the spool it can give you headaches.

Also, I agree with you.  Probably is the line.

Also you could try letting all the line off the spool behind the boat when running without a lure or weight on it, and it might help remove some of the curl.

Good call.  Forgot about that one.  Never had to do it with a bc but I have with a spinning outfit.  Works great, just dong get it caught in the prop. ;D

It was starting midway through the cast...I could feel the backlash coming from thumbing it.

I'm sure it's spooled on right....Just went ahead a put some different line on.Seems fine now with a few practice casts in the yard.

Seems like it was the line...Oh well.
