Length of fishing rod?

What length of rod would you suggest to use for flippin?
or does anyone have a preference they use for any certain lure?

My suggestion would be 7-7'6".  You will need the length and backbone to pull fish from heavy cover.

For flipping I like a long rod like GMAN suggested, but for pitching I like a short light rod so I dont hit the water when I do the underhand pitch.

I forgot to answer the lure question.  My favorites are jigs, tubes, beaver style lures.

My #1 favorite flippin rod is a 7? St. Croix heavy. Throwing weights in the ? to 1 ? oz. range require some backbone. A two pound fish served with 5 pounds of salad can get kind of rough on a medium heavy rod.
For pitching and close quarter work I really like my 6? M/H.

I generally use 7ft. But after I bought a Diawa L and T 7'6 last year. i want to buy another. Pitches are deadly accurate with a light 7'6.

I usually try to buy a 6'-6" - 7' rod but I will use a 5'-6" for spinnerbaiting that has a pistol grip. :)

I use more 7'-er's than anything. Kind of a flexability thing for my overall arsenal. I prefer 6' or 6'6" pitching though....really depends on the distance from my target and if I'm gonna be pitching UNDER something or not. I flip more jigs than anything.(crawworms, lizards, tubes, big worms are a few others) Pitchin....anything goes!

I have to tell this....A couple of years ago or so, It was getting close to weigh-in time. I had zero fish in the well and was almost to the point of accepting the fact. Then I done what most folks do, I rallied..... and that is when things somewhat changed, In a hurry! I had a buzzbait tied on for that morning and it was just laying there. I didn't have a jig tied on for some reason that day, but I had been fishing the grass with other lures.... I pick up the buzzbait rod (It was on a 7' pole this time) and put the t-motor on med-high and started going down the grassline flippin the holes real quick. Had four fish in a matter of twenty minutes and lost one more three pounder. (I think it was the way the buzzbait was zig-zagging down into the holes

I have a favor to ask of you all....sometime this spring, if you will, when your not really doing any good (and when it won't matter to you to try )try this and post your results. oh, it was a chartruese skirted buzzbait btw. Just drop it right into the holes and give a little slack line. Pull right out and go to the next hole in the grass.

Thanks!

If you're talking about just mainly flipping (rather than pitching..) then 7'6" or even longer is what I'd suggest!  If you're talking about flipping & pitching then 7' - 7'6" depending on how lightweight/expensive the rod is.
In other words, I have a 7'6" H BPS Extreme rod that is very stiff and kind of heavy.  It is okay for flipping,..but it is lousy for pitching (not enough flex in the tip and tiresome to use).  A 7' H BPS rod is a better choice for pitching......
On the other hand I also have a 7'6" H Kistler Helium, that is light with nice flex in the tip and it is my go-to rod for pitching!  I pitch a jig all day long with that one without any fatigue.

If you're a fisherman, ya gotta fish!
