Well for me, having an eye and going to buy are two different things.  ;D

A local shop just started carrying Shimano Cumara rods and until a couple days ago, I had never held one. They also started carrying the Core and left handed two!

So I mated the two and it was simply a beautiful thing.

First observations about the Cumara.

Holy smokes. They are as light as they look, even the 7' + models.  The EVA was something a bit weird in that it felt "cheap" when you pressed on it, but I know it isn't.  It is something I would have to get accustomed to since I like cork. With that said, the color of the cumara would clash with the color of cork and the black eva does look awesome.

The core just flat out looks awesome and on a Cumara, I was afraid that the two might float away if I didn't hold on tight.  ;D One thing that really stood out was that the length of the handle seemed a bit on the short side and I think I would prefer a longer handle. It realize this was probably done to shave some weight. It might have been an optical illusion, but is the handle of a Curado D or E longer than the Core's handle.

So just initial observations and they are not show stoppers at all. My buddy also works in this store and I just about chewed him out for showing me both. Down, bait monkey!! Get back in your cage!

EBass Fisher gave me his take awhile ago and actually holding one is drawing me even closer to one.

The Cumara/Core is a wow combination fo' sho'.

No new gear in my sights for awhile.  I didn't hardly have a chance to use the stuff I have, lol.

I'm kicking around new sonar/gps but can decide between Lowrance and Humminbird.  There are still too many bugs left for them to work out.

My wish list includes mainly boat upgrades and I mean WISH LIST.
 new carpet
80lb thrust digital MG trolling motor
 rod box organizer

I would say that's a pretty reasonable wish list?! :pray

My list includes a very short winter (with no ICE!) and a very long summer with lot’s of fish.
Is that asking for too much? ::)

ha! I would love for someone to walk up and hand me the reciept to a brand new Etec 225 HO motor!

Other than that, I'm not buying much but I am (have been for a while now) having my rods and reels reworked. In fact I gotta pick one up from Ian in a few days, it"s ready!

Of course, I will buy specific baits and terminal tackle when it comes down to it.
