Spinnerbait Trailers

I am just getting back into spinnerbaits again and I was wondering if anyone uses trailers on them.

I have used a trailer like a grub, or split-tail on spinners, but, interstingly my best fish on spinners have come with no trailer on it.

Thats odd, my response is exactly the same as Rob's.  I dont fish trailers much anymore because of this.

I too have quit using a trailer bait on my spinners(as I mentioned above), and have gone to trying to make some contact with cover when fishing the spinnerbait, whether it be bottom contact or ticking weeds and limbs with it, bouncing it off the bottom cover or erratically ticking weeds and limbs with it has produced better resultds for me, versus doing the same retrieve with a grub or split tail trailer. An added benefit of this is to save my grubs and other plastics for use as a jig trailer or on a Texas rig, and so I don't use them up so fast and have them available for use with the other techniques.

I don't use trailers much during daylight hours.  However, without them at night one is just asking for a good waxing. ;D

Thanks guys.  That is what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't the way I was fishing it.

I sometimes use a trailer hook on spinner baits and sometimes not. But I have still caught many fish. I think a trailer hook is a good option for those fishing around open water.

I never use a trailer on my spinnerbaits but I always use a trailer hook regardless of the cover. I figure the benefits of the trailer hook outweigh the negatives of not having one.
