Has anybody used the Spro crankbaits called Little John deep diver? It's a John Crews series bait on the spro website.

If you have, can you give a report on them.

Thanks!

Yes they do BBF. I may have to find a couple to try them out.

Tackle Tour did a test on deep divers a few years ago. This testing didn't include the Spro LJ DD(it was brand new and not considered at the time) but later mentioned it when they were referring to another mid-depth cankbait testing they have done. The reference that was given was if the DD was basically the same concerning quaily and design, and held the depth as advertised that it should be a good one as well. I wish they would have included it to find out how it faired against the DD testing results, which concluded that NormanDD22, Fat-free shad...the big size and the Lucky Craft deep diver I can't recall the model number of at the momment, were the top lures for accuratelly diving and running the depthes consistantly right out of the package. As well as fish catching the day of the test.

What they said about the mid-depth Spro was it was really, really good for that particular classification of lures....dove to 14 I think it was, and was one of the top fish catchers amongst the test lures. So, ...... if the Spro DD's get down to it's advertised depth, has the same balance system as the other little john crankbaits for casting, offers the same colors(or some good ones)/patterns, they may be worth checking into.

There was another DD lure that was removed from the DD test. I think it was a Dep? brand, "Dredge". That rascal would go slap to the bottom, wherever bottom was!, and keep digging on the retrieve. It was classified as "unique" because of the weight forward system of the lure and nit included in the test. (Had a row of weights on the lips front edge  ;D)

I've read that the Hot Lips DD crankbaits are supposed to go deeper than the normal DD crankbaits but I've yet to see any around here.

Here's that dredger crankbait , hehe.

That's kind of what I did with a Norman's DL N once. It would sink like a rock....you'd have to hold the rod up to crank it in the zones. Caught tons of fish for two summers and then it disappearred one day  :'( .

Not sure about the color/pattern selections though. Try L&L...Call Tony over there. H e can tell you where to get some if he doesn't have any. .... BPS ;)
