swimming jig trailers
« on: January 21, 2006, 10:44:48 AM »
i just watched linder's angling edge and they were using a plastic frog trailer like a yum buzzfrog or a zoom horny toad as a swimming jig trailer.you should have seen the action on this think.it definately looked good to me.i think i will have to try this next year.if they work on top why not underwater?

I use a Zoom swimming chunk trailer about all the time just for the action.  But I have never really swam the jig as I fish very slow at usually at night.

I just bought some white jigs and white swimming chunks that I plan to try when my tourney season starts back as they are during the day and I think swimming may work better during the day.

Well Dodgeguy I was hoping my secret would not get out. I tried this jig/horny toad swim trick last summer and it is great around deep weeds. I found that I could catch more fish (also smaller) with other rigs but because of the size the bigger (3lb. and up) fish were attracted to this offering. I don't know how they were fishing it on the show you saw but I found that swimming it right into the tops of the weeds and jerking it out worked best for me.
I didn't catch a bunch of fish but they were all nice!

Have any of you guys ever tried droppers, feathers, hair or rubber 18 inches ahead of primary bait, whether a popper or crank bait etc.?

Works wonders in the salt. Just curious...

This one of my favorite Swimming tailers.

These can also be used for that.

With either one, I thread them on the hook "vertically" so the Bass see's the side-profile making it look more like a bait fish fleeing.

That's a great color for imitating a swimming shad.

Cool... I use Joes Beavits for jig trailers sometimes.
They work well also.
