I have used  up to 1oz. on the large Sweet Beaver (4.?”), but if you have never thrown it weightless you are missing out on something. I also use it to add bulk to a jig.
I always make sure to put a dab of superglue on the head of the hook. These baits are really week at the top.

1.5oz tungsten weight

Most of the time its 1/4-1/2 oz though.  These are the sizes I fish most plastics on most of the time.

I don't think I've used it on anything heavier that 3/8 oz. I sometimes use them on a 3/4 oz football jig as a trailer but usually use them by their selves texas rigged in a finesse presentation. I agree weightless is the bomb sometimes.

Thanks guys! It looks like these things are going to be more versitle than I first thought. I thought about punching through the mats with the heavy weights, and the lighter weight Tx-rigs in cover, etc.... But WeightLESS I had not thought about, I will be giving all those suggestions some playing time hopefully soon.

Again,

Thanks Guys!!

I have only used them for jig trailers.  I got a 7# on a black one with a 3/4 oz black football jig.  That led me to buy all of the FLW beavers from Marble Falls, TX to Republic, MO when Wally world decided to clearance them. ;D

If you t-rig them weightless, they ought to swim away from you vs. toward you. You'll have your own flying lure!  Note: You'll have to feed it slack after the cast to help it swim away.
