weedless Tube
« on: August 08, 2009, 07:27:34 PM »

I used Gman's 1/4 oz jig. I might as well let it out.

Gman,I bet you didn't think anybody was doing this. Now one of my favorite ways to rig a tube is out... ;D

Looks good,..but it must be a real pain to insert it into the tube that way and get the head of the jig all the way into the plastic!

I have a little tool that I made from TV rabbit ears and a nail.  It works great with a little slickum.

It is a little bit....Little bit of practice and it gets easier doing it.

I need to find something like what Jigman uses.

Thats a good idea Grimlin.  Just super glue the hole shut and it will hold.

I've use those heads alot for fishing like that but never with a weedguard.  Good idea.

I just had another idea.

Why not thread the tube onto the head and glue it on the collar behind the weedguard.

I could even put eyes on the head to make it look more fishey ;D

If you do it with the device like jig man made you dont have a very big hole.

I've use those heads alot for fishing like that but never with a weedguard.  Good idea.

Right now I use mend it. Just a small amount around the top is all i take. The hole isn't bigger than a 1/8" of an inch.If you bend the tube down the hole gets bigger, slip those things through with the jighead.Once you get it in place stop bending the tube holding the weed gaurds out of the hole and the hole shrinks holding tight to the tube and weedguard. The mend it basically eliminates the hole as if it was never there.I wish i got a picture of the top of it.

JackJ that is very close to how i do it.Just without that little handy tool.Because it's got that flexible weedguard I'm still able to pull it out and work with it.I don't think i would be able to do it with those metal ones without screwing/bending them up.I remember jigman doing this last year,so it gave me the idea to try it with an easier weed guard to work with.I'm going to see what i can come up with to as making a tool for it around the house.I can't find anything right now.So i might go to the hardware and see what i can find.

I could probably put a little rubber band or tape on the tip of the weed guard so all the strains stay together instead of going a little wild inside the tube. That's the only issue i can think of that slows the rigging part down.

Do you rig up a few of these in different colors at home before you get on the water or do you rig as needed on the water?

I used to rig them in advance but if you don't use all them they will rust the heck out of your hooks.  Besides I only use 3 colors during the day and add a 4th at night.

grim if I knew what size I could prolly send you a little tube for your weedguard.  I bought a whole set of TV rabbit ears at a flea mkt. for $2.  I have made a bunch of gizmos for friends who kind of liked my idea and I have more tubing out in the camper shed.

Before I knew that Jigman was in the business of making them,..I bought one of these:  (same type of deal except the end of the metal tube is actually sharpened so it cuts into the soft plastic neatly & easily!)
