Who has tried trokars?
« on: July 08, 2010, 10:17:02 AM »
Pretty much what the title says.  Are they really that great?  I've seen some good reports.

I've been thinking about buying a pack and try to modify them for a jig.

It might be a good selling point for you if you can get them to work.

I have not tried them yet either. I pretty much stick (no pun intended) to gammies and Excalibur hooks, depending on what I am doing.

I doubt I will spend the premium for them. I am not feeling handicapped with  Owners, Gammy EWG, or the Mustad hooks.  But I don't throw swimbaits much. If I did I might give them more consideration.  Considering the bulk of the swimbait and the reduced amount of bites I might be willing to hedge a bit with a Trokar.

Well guys,  I took the plunge and did a trial run.  I made about 20 jigs with Trokar hooks last night.  I was messing around with them and checking them out.  Wow, These things are sharp.  I thought gammies and owners were sharp.  Shoot not even close.  Hopefully I can get them painted tonight and throw one this weekend.

LOL,  yeah not going to be.  Probably range from 4.25-5.25 depending on complexity of the jig.

i wouldnt say cheap i cant see where someone needs an 8 dollar crankbait when the various bombers and bandits will catch them just the same or all these hand poured "custom" baits that are mass produced anyway when u can go buy zoom or yum brand soft plastics thatll catch fish all day long
