Yo-Zuri Hybrid line
« on: January 19, 2009, 10:41:13 PM »
I use nothing but 8# Yo-Zuri Hybrid on my spinning rigs, and have had no problems whatsoever with it.  Kept it on 1 reel for two seasons.  Highly abrasion resistant and doesn't absorb water.  I'm thinking about trying the Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra-Soft.  Has anyone used it yet?

i like the original, it is tough stuff. i think i bought some of the 'soft' hybrid. i remember buying thinking it was the good old original. i spooled it up and it cast like a dream. then i noticed that it felt like i was fishing with a rubber band  :o

I like to spool my baitcasters with 15# and my spinning reel with 10#.  Yo zuri also has a high breaking point.  I think the 15# line is rated somewhere around 19# or 20# for breaking.  There use to be a  page on their website that had all of that info.

I use there line and like it, but one thing I noticed, they say like above 8lb rated higher, if you go to look at other lines, check the diameter, it may be 8lb yozuri, but it will have the same diameter as 10 lb XL. so That can be misleading to a point.
I always try and measure a line by the comparing line diameters, you can say the toughest 8 lb test there is and the diameter will be way thicker than most other 8lb test. Just something to look at.

I like the yozuri line.  Good stuff.  But yes I noticed that too.  If it was me and the 8 breaks at say 10-12 I'd drop to 6lb so it would handle a bit easier unless you wanted that higher break point.

That's a good idea!   8) .  The 8# I use is pretty dang strong.  I've had to cut it a few times when snagged on something that I couldn't get to and un-hook it.  I thought I was gonna break the rod so I went ahead and cut the line.
