Free Entry Bass Tournament
« on: October 19, 2011, 07:13:43 PM »
I was gonna fish a free entry fee tbass tournament this Saturday at Herrington Lake but after attending the mandatory meeting tonight I changed my mind. I have a feeling it will be a cluster there on Saturday. They are letting an Elite Series angler, Bradley Roy, fish this tournament too. While I am not too worried about competing against him I think that is wrong. I thought this was to be for us weekend anglers. Anyway, I will be fishing a tournament I had originally planned to fish at Green River Lake.

What the heck Carter; I can’t tell you how many times #1 backlasher and I, sitting in the middle of the pond with a single bite, would ask the question, WWKVDD? ???
I don’t have enough fish sense to compete against the guy next door, but it sure would be a lot of fun to see what I did compared to a pro. ::)

Scott, I am not worried about the Pro. I just think it is wrong for one to fish an amateur event. And just because a pro is fishing does not mean he will do any good.

but with no entry  :o , All you would be out would be the cost of the round trip(whatever that may be??). Shoot, fish the thing! You never know, they may give out ...rods/reels/tackle, you don't know what may happen!? He may be there just to Emcee the tournament, tournament sponsor rep, guest speaker, ....no tell'n?

No, he's fishing it. And like I said, I have a feeling it is going to be a real cluster. The ramp they are using is not that great for big tournaments and there will be over 100 boats as of the meeting on Thursday night. Plus I had to have a partner and getting one at this late date is next to impossible. No big deal. I was originally going to fish one at Green River Lake so that is what Ia m going to do.

I fished Green River Lake tournament today. I caught several bass but only five keepers. So I had a limit but a small one. My total weight was 6.80# and it took 14.25# to win. Big fish was 5.85#. I still had a good day even though I came in eighth out of about 25 boats.

Good job Carter. Sounds like you kept them honest. Nothing wrong with bringing a limit to the weighin. Do you know how your pattern compared to the winning patterns?

No Scott I don't. Mine were mostly main lake and mouths of creeks in deep water.
